Halloween is fast approaching and the preparations for the holiday are already underway. Houses are becoming scary, costumes are being bought and themed candies are showing up on store shelves. Halloween is usually either a fun or scary night for children, but what about the older folk? The teenagers?

Seven questions were proposed to gauge their enthusiasm for the holiday and three people were chosen out of the vast student population. Firstly was Freshman Hudson Keller, who gave some lengthy answers Second was Sophmore Don Arsenis, who was to the point. Lastly was Senior Adrienne Vann, who gave a surprising answer. The questions were: “What are you doing for Halloween?” “Do you still trick or treat?” “If so what’s the best place to get candy?” “How old do you think you have to be to stop trick or treating?” “Any costumes?” “Halloween’s on Tuesday, do you think the school will do anything special for the occasion?” Their responses were: First “Scaring little kids with my friends actually.”, “staying home, not much.”, and “I’m not going to do nothing for Halloween.”. Second: “I think when I turn 15 I think it’ll be the last time I go trick or treating.”, “No not anymore.”, and “No.”. Third: “There’s this big mansion in my neighborhood .”, “No not really.”, and “Probably Wolfrun.” Fourth: “I don’t think there’s a limit, you actually don’t stop trick or treating, because when you have kids, you go trick or treating with them.”, “Probably like 18.”,and “Probably around 17 or older.” Fifth: “I have an idea. It depends if you’ve seen what movie I’m talking about. On March 11 Kong: Skull Island released in theaters.” So you’re being King Kong? “Yes, they have a costume down at the costume store, hopefully.”, “No.”, and “No.” Lastly: “I’m thinking, I’m not sure.”, “I don’t think so.”, and “Yes, to wear costumes.”

From these interviews it seems that the students are around the trick, or treating stopping point, people are no longer as enthusiastic about the holiday as they may have once been, and that they believe that October 31st will just be a normal school day. For those wanting to dress up themselves or siblings for Halloween, from October 20 2017, Times Magazine has an article titled: “There’s Still Time to Get This Year’s Most Popular Halloween Costumes” written by Jennifer Calfas, that provides a list of the five most popular Halloween costumes “Based on the number of Google searches for Halloween costumes.” The order from fifth to first is: unicorn, Moana, clown, Harley Quinn, and Wonder Woman. These results may prove useful to those looking for costumes last-minute
