Many students often frown upon prom season because of the big price tag that is placed on top of the entire event. Students are expected to pay at least an arm and a leg for gowns, tuxes, shoes, corsages, boutineers, and tickets. In response to this dilemma, a thrift store located in Lewes has decided to help high school students out this season by selling second-hand dresses and tuxes at a much more affordable price. “I really think that this is a really helpful idea because some students often get discouraged by how expensive prom can be. I also know a lot of students that are deciding to go to prom last minute. In one of my classes there’s a girl that hasn’t even started looking for her prom dress,” Senior Madison Sarnak said.

Located on 22150 Robinsonville Road in Lewes, The Conley’s UMC Thrift Shop will be offering proper prom attire on Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 3 pm. Their current stock includes around 40 dresses and only 4 tuxedos. Prices ranging from $0-$24. This option is also great for students that decide last minute if they want to go to prom.

The 2017-18 prom will be held at Ivy in Dewey Beach on Saturday May 12th. Tickets will go on sale May 4th. For students that are bring a guest, remember to have a signed guest form as well as a signed dance policy form. All debts must be paid prior to purchasing a ticket.
