The theater program put on the musical production of “The Sound of Music” this past March. The dates of the musical were March 16th-18th. The show was recieved as a success by all viewers. “We’ve got dancing, we’ve got singing, we’ve got romance, and there’s just something so special about live theatre,” Ms. Andros said. Starring in the production was Sarah Bennett as Maria Rainer, Noah Sutton as Captain Von Trapp, Maddie Betts as Mother Abbess, Marshall Birt as Max Detweiller, and Brianna Johnson as Elsa Schräder. During the musical, all of the music was played by the orchestra, and directed by Mr. Burkhart. “Ms. Sunnergren, Mr. Burkhart, and I worked together this summer to select The Sound of Music, Ms. Sadie Andros said. She directed the musical. The original movie was made in 1965 with Julie Andrews as the lead role.

Many students, staff, and locals came to support the theatre program. Junior, Lindsey Reynolds stated, “I really enjoyed the show, especially when I got to see all my friends on stage singing and dancing. I also really enjoyed the story. I liked the movie too, so seeing the musical in person was just awesome.”

Junior, Morgan Schwab also really enjoyed the play, saying “It was very fun to watch and it was a amazing production. The kids who were in it definitely worked really hard and it paid off. The night I came the whole audience was filled with people.”

The students took weeks setting up the stage and getting costumes ready. Mrs. Aiken made sure all the costumes looked perfect for the show. Many people showed up each night to see the musical. The musical had a large, all student cast and amount of hard work and time that went into the production proved to be well spent.
