Everyone is talking about the season finale of the reality show The Bachelor. People were calling into radio shows, screaming at their televisions, and even threatening the reigning Bachelor (Arie Luyendyk Jr.) for his actions.

Luyendyk Jr. proposed to Becca Kufrin and left Lauren Burnham as the runner-up. But in the season finale, he broke up with Kufrin and told her he could not stop thinking about Burnham. This happened five months ago, but the footage was aired two nights ago.

People are angry. Twitter is a storm of angry people of the “Bachelor Nation”, the name for fans of the show. But it’s not just Twitter, it’s everywhere. “It’s all for show and he shouldn’t get someone’s hopes up like that just to diminish them on live television,” Freshman Amaya Daisey said.

Many people argue that it’s one thing to break up in private and release the statement later, but it’s another thing to humiliate and shock someone on national television. “He could have handled the situation better. He ruined his image in humiliating her,” Junior Dora Perez said.

Many people are tired of how people treat women. “Women are treated like objects and this just proves it,” Freshman Andrea Haro-Simental said. This incident really highlights the fact that the fight for gender equality is far from over. For some people, this was not just an episode of The Bachelor, but a rude awakening.

No matter how you saw it, it was a terrible situation and a twist that nobody saw coming.
